The ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 accreditation process and delivery in
Trinidad & Tobago have come in for high praise among local and
international media professionals.
In fact, the efficiency and professionalism of the staff at the
Accreditation Centre at UWI SPEC, where Warm-up matches are being
played this week, have been given an “A+” rating from local media who
collected their accreditation passes over the last few days.
Both
Vinode Mamchan and Everard Gordon of one the country’s leading
newspapers were very impressed with the speed of the entire operation.
“Never
before have I gone to collect my media accreditation to attend a
sporting event and was in and out of the building in less than five
minutes. The staff was courteous and professional, almost competing
with each other to attend to me, and the volunteers were extremely
helpful and pleasant,” said Mamchan.
Gordon concurred,
stating: “The entire process, from the time I walked in to collect my
accreditation, to the time I walked out, could not have taken more than
two to three minutes.”
Both men agreed that with the
international media in full attendance, it is encouraging to see the
Caribbean demonstrating that it has the capacity and ability to deliver
the main attributes of a major world sporting event and to world-class
standard.
“Hats off to the organisers and they must ensure we
maintain this level of professionalism throughout the tournament
period,” said Gordon.
But local media were not the only ones
impressed with the CWC accreditation system. Krystyna Rudzki of the
Associated Press – one of the world’s leading news agencies – also
thought highly of the procedure and those executing it.
“I was in and out of the Accreditation Centre with my pass in hand in less than ten minutes,” she estimated.
“It was very efficiently managed and is as smooth a process for collecting accreditation as I’ve ever experienced.”
Media
personnel who have not yet collected their accreditation should visit
the centres in the nine Host Venues or contact the respective Local
Organising Committee for further information.
