 The fans of Madhuri are happy to see their actress in a role after about five years and she proved that she is still with the same spirits. The movie is about a girl Dia (madhuri)who wants to save the ajanta theatres where she learned dancing a spend her childhood. The movie has lot of message to say and the director tried his best. The are different roles in the movies other then akshaya khanna. Radha (Dalai) her mother may be born in Shamli, but she is born in New York. Doctor (Raghubir Yadav) is the old caretaker of ajanta and doctor by profession.
He is Dia’s support in her fight for ajanta theatre. Imran (Kunal Kapoor) a local and a aggressive and violent youngest who do not have any interest in dance and romance is for wimps. But he is the lead actor in Dia’s theatrical production where he has to do only two things dance and romance. Anokhi (Konkona Sen) Anokhi is truly anokhi (different).Dia finds her unique even though she cannot sing or dance. Mohan Sharma (Ranvir Shorey) is owner of a café and Dia's sudden arrival leaves him feel vulnerable again. Mr. Chojar (Vinay Pathak) Chojar saab, in his own words is responsible government official of Shamli. From the day Dia moves into his house as a paying guest, his martial life is disturbed. Chaudhary Om Singh(Akhilendra Mishra) is local ex-MLA is a politician. A opportunist in search of opportunity. He is out of power since the last election and Dia's arrival gives him just the issue he need. Sanjeev Mehta (Jugal Hansraj) an Accountant joins Dia's group to sell insurance policies and stocks. Dhan Kuber (Nowaz) is a outspoken and liberal person.
Since Dia’s come back, nothing in Shamli is as it should be and now he has to choose whose side he is on. Makarand (Darshan Zariwala) Artist, singer, writer, dancer, philosopher, hippie... he is the man who taught Dia how to dance. He is the man who is the main cause for Dia’s arrival to Shamli and the man who dies after leaving his favorite pupil to teach dance to a town.
