Biography of actress Ashley Olsen Ashley Fuller Olsen was born with her fraternal twin sister, Mary Kate, on June 13, 1986, to David and Jarnette Olsen. Ashley has appeared with her sister in television and films since she was less than one-year-old to be precise. Her first onscreen appearance was in 1987 as the role of Michelle Tanner in the television series, Full House. The two were originally credited as one person, Mary Kate Ashley Olsen, because the producers didn’t want viewers to know that Michelle was played by twins. The show catapulted the young twins into a TV popularity rating second only to Bill Cosby.
Ashley and her sister played the role of Michelle until they were nine years old. When Full House went off the air, many thought this would be the end of their acting careers. But in 1993 the twins worked together with their lawyer and manager and formed a clothing company called Dualstar. The Dualstar brand is still sold in more than 5,300 stores worldwide.
The Olsen twins rarely appear in any acting venue separate from each other. After the success of their Dualstar brand, the two starred in several video series including The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley; ABC’s family comedy Two of a Kind, where Ashley plays the straight-A twin starting a boy-crazy phase; and another ABC production, So Little Time, a situational comedy where Ashley plays the part of Chloe Carlson, twin sister of Riley Carlson played by Mary-Kate. By the time they were ten years old Ashley and Mary-Kate became the youngest self-made millionaires in American history. They are currently worth an estimated $150 million each.
Between 2000 and 2004 Mattel designed numerous Mary-Kate and Ashley fashion dolls. On April 29, 2004, the twins became the youngest celebrities to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2004 Ashley donated signed head shots to casting director Rocky Stone to be auctioned off to raise money to buy more toys for less fortunate kids in his Toy Mountain Campaign. Ashley is currently studying at the New York University at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study. She started university with her sister, but Mary-Kate took a break in 2005 to move back to California.
On February 14, 2005, Ashley filed a multi-million dollar libel suit against the tabloid National Enquirer for writing an article claiming she was caught in a drug scandal. The article included an unflattering photo of Ashley with her eyes half-closed to give the misimpression (so the lawsuit states) that Ashley was drugged. The suit consisted of $20 million in libel damages and $20 million in false light invasion of privacy damages.Later that year Ashley appeared alone on the cover of Harpers Bazaar.
In late 2007 Ashley was seen on several occasions in the company of 5 times Tour De France winner, Lance Armstrong and rumours abounded that the two were dating. However, Lance, 36, insists he is not romantically involved with the 21-year-old and sinsists, 'We have hung out among other friends, and she strikes me as a nice, smart lady."
