Humans are eating their closest relatives into extinction, particularly in Southeast Asia, alarmed conservationists have revealed.

Nearly half of the world's 634 species of monkeys, apes and other primates are in danger of going extinct, the world's top experts in primates were told at a meeting in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Nine believed dead in California helicopter crash

A helicopter taking firefighters to a northern California blaze crashed, and nine people are believed dead, officials said on Wednesday.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said on a recorded telephone message that four others aboard the aircraft were critically burned in the crash on Tuesday evening about 35 miles (56 km) northwest of Redding in remote terrain.

Leaders of Pakistan's civilian coalition consulted into the early hours of Thursday morning on whether to strip President Pervez Musharraf, a key U.S. ally, of his powers and possibly impeach him.

Such a move would almost certainly plunge the nuclear-armed Muslim nation into a new bout of political instability unless the former army chief, who came to power in a coup nine years ago, decided to go quietly.

Most youngsters Down Under are experimenting with illegal drug ice as they find it glamorous, warn senior police officials.

With the drug abuse posing a huge threat to kids as young as 12, cops have decided to initiate an anti-ice campaign targeting children aged 12 to 18.

30pc of U.S. Army may be robotic by 2020

U.S. technologists have revealed that the country's military has plans to have about 30 per cent of the Army comprised of robotic forces by approximately 2020.

Doug Few and Bill Smart of Washington University in St. Louis say that robots are increasingly taking over more soldier duties in Iraq and Afghanistan, and that the U.S. Army wants to make further additions to its robotic fleet.
